1. Agreement and eligibility

By accessing or using Open News, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service. Open News is a general-audience service and is not intended for children under 16. If local law requires parental permission, you may use the service only with that permission.

Pre-launch notice

The operating legal entity, service address, formal notice contact and governing-law venue must be completed before public launch. These terms are a product-ready draft, not a substitute for review by qualified counsel.

2. What Open News provides

Open News compares multiple sources and provides concise summaries, source maps, evidence status, context, timelines, recommendations and discussion tools. Content may be created with AI assistance and is subject to editorial processes. Status labels describe the available evidence; they are not promises of absolute truth or completeness.

Open News does not provide legal, medical, financial, investment or other professional advice. Information can change quickly. Consult original sources and qualified professionals before making consequential decisions.

3. Sources, copyright and links

Third-party names, excerpts, links and source references belong to their respective owners. A link or attribution does not imply endorsement or transfer of rights. You may use Open News for personal, lawful reading and sharing through the provided tools. You may not reproduce, scrape, republish, sell, train models on, or systematically extract Open News content except as permitted by law or written agreement.

External sites control their own content, availability and privacy practices. Open News is not responsible for third-party services.

4. Comments and user submissions

You may comment without registering. You remain responsible for anything you submit and must have the rights needed to share it. Do not submit confidential information or personal data that you do not have authority to disclose.

You retain ownership of your submission. You grant Open News a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, reproduce, format, translate, display and distribute it solely to operate, moderate, improve and promote the service. This license ends when the content is deleted, except for cached copies, legal records and content already shared by others where continued retention is lawful.

5. Community rules

Do not submit illegal content, threats, harassment, hate, sexual exploitation, private personal information, impersonation, malware, spam, coordinated manipulation, deceptive media, unsupported accusations, or copyrighted material you lack permission to share. Do not evade rate limits, moderation or security controls.

We may label, limit visibility, remove or preserve content; restrict participation; or refer matters to appropriate authorities. We consider context, severity, repeat behavior and applicable law. Where required, we provide a reason and a way to appeal. Repeated manifest abuse of reporting or appeal tools may lead to proportionate restrictions after warning.

6. Reporting content and appeals

Each comment should provide a report control. Notices concerning illegal content, copyright, privacy, corrections or other rights must identify the content, explain the basis of the request, provide the necessary supporting information and include accurate contact details. Knowingly false notices may result in restrictions or legal consequences.

We review sufficiently precise notices in a timely, objective and proportionate manner. Affected users may request reconsideration where an appeal mechanism is available.

7. Service integrity

You may not interfere with the service, attempt unauthorized access, introduce malicious code, collect personal information from users, manipulate engagement, or use automated access contrary to published technical controls or source licenses. Security research requires prior written authorization unless applicable law provides otherwise.

8. Corrections and changes

Stories evolve. We may update, correct, clarify, archive or remove material. Material corrections should be disclosed. Following a story does not guarantee that every update will be delivered. We may change or discontinue features and will provide notice of significant changes where required.

9. Advertising and recommendations

Open News may display advertising and sponsored material, which will be identified where required. Editorial status and fact-check labels are not sold. Recommendations may consider topic relevance, recency, engagement, reliability signals and your choices. Advertising personalization and optional measurement will be subject to consent and applicable opt-out rights.

10. Disclaimers and liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, complete accuracy, or that every source will remain accessible. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or liabilities that cannot legally be excluded, including applicable consumer protections.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Open News is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss arising from use of the service or reliance on third-party material. Any additional limitation and governing-law clause must be finalized for the operating entity and target markets before launch.

11. Termination

You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend access or participation for material or repeated violations, security threats or legal requirements. Where appropriate and legally required, restrictions will be proportionate and accompanied by reasons and appeal information.

12. Contact

Working channels for general legal notices, privacy requests, corrections, content reports and copyright notices will be published before public launch. The service should not accept public submissions until those channels and the responsible operating entity are in place.
